Susie Anderson

Through poetry and prose, Susie Anderson reflects on Indigenous Australian identity drawn from her Wergaia and Wemba Wemba heritage, as well as art, memory, place and time. The written word is a means to uncover hidden layers of meaning in landscapes in order to repair cultural connections to place.
Her debut poetry collection the body country is an outcome of the State Library of Queensland black&write! Fellowship and was published with Hachette in 2023. The book was shortlisted for both the NSW and Victorian Premier's Literary awards in 2024.
She grew up in the regional town of Horsham in Western Victoria and is currently in Rome on a BRÂ Whiting Studio Fellowship supported by Creative Australia, to write her debut novel.
